World Steampunk Expo 2010

I attended the  World Steam Expo in Dearborn, MI on Saturday May 29, 2010.  I wasn’t quite sure what to expect based on some of the things I was hearing prior to the event.  Would people show up?  Would it be well organized?  I needn’t have worried.  From the second I arrived, it was clear that the attendance was high and that just getting a glimpse at what people were wearing alone would justify the price of admission.  But I got much, much more.  The vendor booths were filled with great clothing, costumes, art and steampunkish accouterments. There was music by bands like Tartanic and Abney Park, a fashion show, various kinds of enlightenment in the form of seminars, and a fancy dress ball to top it off.  But the thing that really made it worth while was seeing friends and all of the amazing outfits people put together.
